A royal seal of approval and a massive fundraising milestone, all before the walking boots are even laced up!

Here at Surplex UK, we are incredibly proud to share some fantastic news about our very own Mark. In July, Mark will be embarking on a monumental challenge: The 250-mile Kindness Amble for Canals, Cats, and Canines.

With over three months still to go before he takes his first official step, Mark has already smashed through his initial fundraising targets, raising an incredible £1,000 to be split between two fantastic causes: Battersea Dogs & Cats Home and the Canal & River Trust.

A Journey for Two Great Causes

Mark’s ambitious 250-mile trek will take him across the country’s beautiful waterways, raising vital funds and awareness for charities that rely heavily on public support:

  • Battersea Dogs & Cats Home: Providing love, care, and a safety net for thousands of animals who need a second chance at life.

  • Canal & River Trust: Dedicated to protecting and maintaining the historic canals and rivers that provide a haven for both wildlife and communities.

The sheer dedication it takes to prepare for a 250-mile walk is astounding, but Mark’s early fundraising success shows just how much his mission is resonating with friends, family, and colleagues.

A Letter from the King and Queen

Recently, Mark received a highly prestigious letter on behalf of King Charles and Queen Camilla, sending their warmest wishes and support for his upcoming walk. Both charities hold a special place in the Royal Family’s heart, serving as Royal Patronages (with Queen Camilla serving as Patron of Battersea, and King Charles as Patron of the Canal & River Trust). To receive a message of encouragement from Their Majesties is a testament to the importance of Mark’s upcoming journey.

Support the Kindness Amble

While hitting the £1,000 mark three months early is a phenomenal achievement, the journey is just beginning. As Mark continues his rigorous training for the July start date, every additional donation provides a massive boost of motivation.

Keep an eye on our website and social media channels for more updates as the Kindness Amble officially begins!
