Secure Business IT Asset Disposal2026-09-11T15:06:28+01:00

What is Managed IT Asset Disposal?

IT Asset Disposal (ITAD) is the secure, compliant retirement of redundant business IT. Equipment is collected under chain of custody, data-wiped or destroyed to recognised standards, then recycled with zero waste to landfill or assessed so its value can be recovered. We collect across England, Wales and Scotland, including IT asset disposal in London. Done properly, it removes data-breach and WEEE-compliance risk while recovering residual value from your hardware.

A collection is booked in one step through one-stop ITAD booking, so the date, the destruction method and the paperwork you will receive are agreed in a single exchange rather than three.

Zero to landfill, certificates and any rebate in your portal

What We Collect

We specialise in recycling and disposal of commercial IT and technology. If it has a plug, a battery or a circuit board, we’ll recycle it compliantly.

Computing Networking & Servers Peripherals & Telecoms
Laptops & MacBooks  Rack & Blade Servers Monitors (TFT/LCD/LED)
Desktop PCs & iMacs  Switches, Routers & Firewalls VOIP & PBX Systems
Tablets & iPads  Storage Arrays (SAN/NAS) Keyboards, Mice & Docking Stations

Note: We focus exclusively on commercial IT waste. We do not accept office furniture or domestic appliances (white goods).

How we secure your data

Certified data wiping (Certus)

Overwritten to NIST 800-88 standards, for hardware from which value is recovered

On-site hard drive shredding

Physical destruction at your premises; your data never leaves site

Secure chain of custody

GPS-tracked, vetted teams, and a BS EN 1143-1 rated strong room

Clearing an office or closing a site

When a building is handed back, the IT is usually the last thing anyone has planned for. The furniture has a removal company booked, and somewhere there is a comms room with a rack in it that still holds data and still has value.

Surplex UK Limited collects the IT from offices being cleared, sites being closed and floors being handed back. We work to the property timetable rather than a date fixed weeks in advance, because lease dates move and the collection has to move with them.

If an office clearance or strip out is under way, the IT is the part we handle. Furniture and general waste stay with your clearance contractor. See how this ran across twenty site closures for a national media group.

How we handle your IT, and to which standards

  • Surplex UK Limited destroys confidential material to BS EN 15713:2023, the current British and European code of practice for secure destruction.
  • Hard drives and solid-state media are shredded mechanically, the Destroy method defined in NIST 800-88, the US guideline for media sanitisation.
  • Where value is recovered from hardware, data is erased with Certus certified software to the NIST 800-88 Purge standard, which produces a report against each device serial number.
  • Collection and destruction staff are screened to BS 7858, the British Standard for screening individuals working in a secure environment.
  • Media awaiting destruction is held in a BS EN 1143-1 rated strong room, the standard that classifies secure storage units by their resistance to attack.

Frequently asked questions

What documentation and compliance reporting will we receive?2026-08-22T09:30:52+01:00

Surplex UK Limited produces a full audit trail for every collection, available at any time in the Surplex Portal.

  • WEEE waste transfer notes, the legal proof of compliant disposal
  • A certificate of destruction against each device serial number
  • Asset inventory reports carrying make, model, serial number and specification
  • Scope 3 carbon and landfill-diversion figures for your ESG reporting
What is the standard turnaround time for a business collection?2026-08-26T15:46:05+01:00

Most collections across England, Wales and Scotland are scheduled and completed within seven days.

Surplex UK Limited also runs express collections for urgent office moves and clearances. There is no minimum quantity, so a single item and a full site clearance are booked the same way.

Do you collect peripheral items like cables, monitors, and keyboards?2026-08-22T09:30:56+01:00

Yes. Surplex UK Limited runs a total estate service. If it has a plug or a battery, it can be recycled.

That covers cabling, monitors and the miscellaneous office electronics that accumulate in storage rooms.

Is there a minimum quantity required for a “Value-Offset” collection?2026-08-21T16:53:00+01:00

No. There is no minimum quantity. Surplex UK Limited will collect a single laptop or an entire data centre.

What changes with the size of a collection is the offset, not whether we will come. On a standard collection the value recovered from the hardware covers collection, data destruction and recycling in full. Where a load is small, or made up of low-value peripherals only, any remaining cost is quoted openly and agreed before work starts.

What happens if we have mixed WEEE “junk” and high-value IT?2026-08-22T09:30:57+01:00

Both go in the same collection. Surplex UK Limited processes the high-value assets so the value recovered offsets the cost of the work, and recycles the lower-grade WEEE such as cables and keyboards under the same paperwork.

The site is cleared in one visit and the compliance record covers everything that left it.

How do you handle collections for remote or WFH employees?2026-08-22T09:31:06+01:00

Surplex UK Limited runs a remote recovery service. Vetted drivers visit the employee’s home address directly, rather than asking staff to find boxes and take items to a shop.

Secure transit cases are provided and the paperwork is completed at the door, so the chain of custody holds from the doorstep onwards.

What does IT asset disposal cost?2026-08-25T16:25:33+01:00

Most customers find their collection is free. Surplex UK Limited works on an open-book value-offset model with no minimum quantity, so the value recovered from your redundant hardware is set against the cost of collection, data destruction and recycling, and you are shown both figures. Where the recovered value does not cover the work, a small logistics and processing fee is payable, quoted and agreed upfront before anything is collected.
