When a reseller refreshes a client estate, the old hardware becomes the reseller’s problem before it becomes anyone else’s. Most resellers do not want to run a disposal operation, and none of them can afford a disposal partner who embarrasses them in front of a customer.

This reseller needed collections from its own clients’ premises, around 200 devices across several accounts. Surplex UK Limited works behind resellers, MSPs and IT providers, attending the client site either as ourselves or unbranded.

The Challenge: The Disposal Partner Meets Your Customer

A disposal supplier turning up at a client site is representing the reseller whether it means to or not. The reseller needed the collection handled properly in front of its own customer, and needed paperwork it could pass on under its own name.

The Surplex Solution: We Attend as You, or as Nobody

Surplex UK Limited goes to the client’s premises and handles the disposal on the reseller’s behalf. We can attend as ourselves, or unbranded, so the visit reads as the reseller’s and the customer sees only the relationship they already have. Collection, destruction, recycling and reporting are carried out by our own vetted staff with no subcontractors, which is what makes turning up in front of someone else’s customer safe to offer.

  • 1. Booked Around the Deployment

Collections were timed to the reseller’s own delivery schedule, so old equipment left as new equipment landed and the client was disrupted once rather than twice.

  • 2. Destroyed to a Named Standard

Drives were shredded to BS EN 15713:2023, the Destroy method defined by NIST 800-88. Where value was recovered from hardware, data was erased with Certus certified software, the Purge method under the same standard.

  • 3. Documentation Written to Be Passed On

Every device was recorded against its serial number and issued a certificate of destruction. The reporting is built so the reseller can hand it straight to the end client rather than summarise it.

The Results: A Service the Reseller Can Sell

The reseller gained a disposal capability without running one, and without a third party appearing in front of its customers unannounced. Because the service is free to the reseller, it adds nothing to the cost of winning a refresh.

Why Resellers, MSPs and IT Providers Trust Surplex

Surplex UK Limited works behind resellers and managed service providers across England, Wales and Scotland. There is no minimum quantity, so a single laptop is booked the same way as a full estate. Most customers find their collection is free, because the value recovered from redundant hardware is set against the cost of collection, destruction and recycling. Where it does not cover that cost, a small logistics and processing fee is payable, agreed upfront.
